Soggy Underwear Doesn’t Air-Dry

Funny, that headline strikingly harkens to the insistence of one I wrote as a 7-year old for my very own The Big Kids’ News: “Crickets Don’t Let You Sleep at Night!”

Anyhow.

As a freshman living in a six-story residence hall with over 600 students and one laundry room, I learned quickly that clean clothes would coincide with two occasions:

  1. The inability to bring yourself to throw on the same grease-stained, pen-marked jeans for the second week in a row.
  2. An abundance of quarters.

In the age of key-card swiping, meal-card swiping and ID-swiping only to be turned away from the third bar on the block, we don’t carry cash. We should, but we don’t.

When it comes time for laundry, you’re likely more worried about what you can even wear to the laundry room than making sure you have enough quarters. “Which pants can go another week smelling like dining room mystery lasagna? I could borrow some of my roommates pants…”
