Majorly Deciding Your Life

A Shot of College Banner

“What’s your major? “What do you want to be? What are you going to DO with your life?”

If you’ve ever felt like punching someone in the face after receiving this barrage of questions, you’re probably a business major who can’t do math. Or an art major with parents who inconspicuously gesture toward their Parent PLUS loan statements when you tell them you’re sculpting a representation of the local homeless population out of tin foil for your midterm. “We’re supportive, honey. We just want you to get a good job.”

Big Fat Myth: Your major will determine your career.
