My name is Lisa Rau.
My name will soon be Lisa Rau Cannon
(when I get married in August. w00t!).

I am half Colombian and half North Dakotan.

I’m a grad student at the University of Southern California (USC) studying broadcast journalism. My fellowship gives me the opportunity to be the supervising producer of Impact, a documentary-style TV show that airs on more than 30 public stations across California and Nevada. This year, we won 1st place in the College Television Awards, administered by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.
.

Like everyone else, I have my quirky set of preferences and skills. I play the accordion and ukulele. Learning mandolin. The Care Bears still influence my decision making. I can’t pick between Bill Nye or Beakman. I drink raw milk. I secretly like PCs better than my Mac. I tune out when people start talking politics. I love Think Geek and laypeople who take interest to high-energy particle physics. I, too, believe my cat is the most interesting cat in the world.

Among my values, I have one that is the heart of Square Syndrome:

I believe that even the most advanced, esoteric topics can be packaged in a way that is enjoyable, valuable and memorable to the average person.

I would love to run a show where people can simultaneously laugh and learn cool new things. I wouldn’t mind hosting it myself.
